Guidelines for Contributors

When contributing to the PT Wiki, please keep the following things in mind:

1) Although anyone can read the PT Wiki contents, only registered members (using their real* names) can edit or add content. That’s so we can keep pill-sellers and spammers away.

2) All material posted on the PT Wiki becomes public domain; i.e. copyright-free. That’s just the way wikis work. So, anything you put on as your original content may be edited, altered, even copied or removed by other registered members. (However, if you see something going on with your original contribution that’s not right, just let us know and we’ll look into it.)

3) The PT Wiki respects the copyright works of others, so please don’t post anything that may be copyrighted, without asking the author/publisher, first.

4) You are free to publish your own, original PT Wiki contributions anywhere else, in your own name.

5) Generally, the PT Wiki publishers have no control over the content of an article after it’s placed on the Wiki. However, a page can be locked, if tit-for-tat edits and re-edits and re-re-re-edits get silly.

6) If you want to add content directly to the PT Wiki (and you know how such things work), lets us know and we’ll register you as a ‘member.’ (Real* names only) mailto:wikiadmin@propertytalk.com. If you’d prefer to e-mail your contribution for someone else to handle that chore, please send it to mailto:wikicontribute@propertytalk.com . You can change your mind too, if and when you want to.

7) If you want help with something, but, because (for example) you’re uncertain of your writing or grammar skills, please send your contribution to mailto:wikicontribute@propertytalk.com . If something’s not clear, we’ll get back to you before putting your effort onto the PT Wiki.

8) Tip: try to write your contribution without personal pronouns like "I," "we," "you," etc. E.g. instead of "then you can go and bank their rent money," say "then the tenant's rent money can be banked."

9) We are grateful for whatever contribution you make. Sharing their experience is something that PT forumites are so generous with. Later, we may have a contributors or registered members page with your name on it, unless you elect to not have it there.

10) Finally, please do not add to the wiki or send us any material that contains advertising. This wiki is not here to promote you or your business or that of any others. The PT wiki editors will - without warning - remove all content deemed as advertising. Persistent violations may result in the user being de-registered.
