Loan To Value Ratio
The ratio of borrowed funds to the total value of a home or an investment property. Commonly called LVR. (eg: you buy a property for $200,000, putting in 20% deposit ($40,000). Your gearing ratio is 80%).As a general rule, mortgage loans that exceed an LVR of 80% require lenders mortgage insurance ( LMI)
