There is far more to this strategy than meets the eye.

Imagine a person living in rented accommodation, who leases out the garage to a car doer-upperer. Options:

Register for GST, charge GST and claim the GST component of appropriate expenses. Make claims for vehicle expenses (going to the bank to deposit the cash) (incl GST & depreciation) Make claims for telephone costs. (incl GST) Make claims for electricity costs, to the garage. (incl GST)
